About Feathered Friends Vaughan

We're a Woodbridge family who happen to be hopeless about birds. Feathered Friends Vaughan grew out of a simple conviction: when life takes an owner away, their bird still deserves someone who genuinely knows what it's doing.

From a Family Passion to Vaughan's Trusted Bird Care

It really did start small. A neighbour heading away over the holidays needed someone to mind their cockatiel, we said yes, and the bird had such an easy week that the neighbour told a friend, who told another. Word travelled across Woodbridge and out toward Kleinburg and Maple, and somewhere along the way a favour for one family turned into a calling for the whole street.

So we committed to doing it properly. We carved out a dedicated bird room — generous enclosures, full-spectrum lighting, air purification, and enrichment set-ups matched to different species. We dug into avian behaviour, sat through workshops with the Ontario aviculture community, and built a line to trusted avian vets nearby so that nothing would ever catch us flat-footed.

Hundreds of birds later, with guests arriving from across Vaughan and the wider GTA, the team has grown a little but the rule of thumb hasn't moved an inch: every bird through our door is treated like part of our own flock. The trust Vaughan families place in us is something we try to re-earn with every single stay.

The Values Behind Every Stay

💚

Compassion First

When a call is tough, we ask one question: what does the bird need right now? Comfort, safety, and a calm state of mind come before everything else under our Vaughan roof.

🔍

Transparency & Trust

You hear it all — the daily photo, the small wins, and the candid note when your bird is off its food or a touch grumpy. We'd rather tell you straight than leave you guessing.

🌱

Continuous Learning

What was best practice five years ago often isn't today. We keep up through workshops, vet partnerships, and the plain experience of caring for dozens of different species across a Vaughan year.

🤝

Community Connection

This is our neighbourhood too — from Woodbridge over to Kleinburg and Maple. Many of the families and birds we look after have been coming back for years, and we like it that way.

How We Care for Your Bird

Three words sum it up: watch, adjust, nurture. Ahead of a first stay we sit down for a proper intake — diet, sleep habits, the toy that never gets old, the noises that spook them, all the little quirks that make your bird itself. It goes on file so whoever's on shift cares for them exactly the same way.

Through the stay we keep a running daily log and tweak things as your bird finds its footing in a new room. Good bird care, in our experience, comes down to patience, a steady routine, and real affection — never a tick-box list applied the same to everyone.

  • Comprehensive intake consultation to learn your bird's unique needs, routine, and personality
  • Customized daily schedule mirroring your bird's home routine for feeding, play, and sleep
  • Supervised out-of-cage time with species-appropriate enrichment and social interaction
  • Daily written logs tracking food intake, behaviour, droppings, and activity levels
  • Immediate owner notification for any changes in health or behaviour, with veterinary escalation protocols in place
